Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president ASM Abdur Rab said that the government has failed to fulfill its constitutional duty by not cooperating with the Election Commission in the Gaibandha-5 by-election. A few platoons of RAB, Ansar members and police were on duty to provide security to voters in a single by-election. Even then, the rigging could not be reversed. Then the government is unable to ensure the voting rights of the voters in the 300 seat elections.
Asam Rao said these things in a statement on Wednesday.

He also said that CEC Kazi Habibul Awal told the media about the Gaibandhar elections that the irregularities in the polling have gone out of control. This proves that the government has failed to fulfill its constitutional duty to cooperate with the Election Commission as per Article 126 of the Constitution in a single by-election.

The JSD president said that the government is used to the culture of vote robbery, vote rigging and voting without people. Therefore, the responsibility of the Election Commission is to approach the High Court against the government for non-cooperation and violation of Article 126 of the Constitution, or to resign the Election Commission. This will be the moral duty of the Election Commission.
