BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, BNP is not afraid of elections, Awami League is. That is why they are so afraid of giving fair elections. Because they will not be able to come to power if there is a fair election. The Prime Minister has been in power for a long time by lying, cheating and intimidating the people.

He said these things in a press conference at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan in the capital on Friday (October 7).

BNP Secretary General said, we are a democratic party, we want to hold elections. But it must be like an election. The election will be held the night before the polls, 154 people will be declared unopposed, none of the opposition candidates will be able to campaign, they will be arrested, this cannot happen. So there is no question of fearing us. On the contrary, they are afraid, if there is a fair election, they will not be able to come to power. This is the main point.

He said that the law enforcement agencies are conspiring to thwart the ongoing movement of BNP on the orders of the government. Law enforcement forces are collecting information on BNP leaders and activists at district and upazila levels. Their initiative is illegal and unconstitutional. BNP believes that this information is being collected for dishonest political purposes. The purpose of this message is to create fear and terror in the society.

Mirza Fakhrul urged the law and order forces to refrain from such arbitrary behavior and said that the government wants to suppress the movement of the opposition parties to remain in power. The ban should come on the government, not any specific force. Because the decision comes from the government. Mirza Fakhrul said that there is no opportunity to negotiate with Awami League until the demands of BNP are met. They must step down from power.
