Md Towsif-Ur-Rahman  JnU Correspondent: Mahfuz Rahman, a student of Jagannath University (JnU), became the champion in the International Nutrition Olympiad organized by Bangladesh Institute of ICT Development with the aim of changing the food system under the leadership of young people. He is a third year student of Microbiology department of the university. Mahfuz won the What Can I Do (Action Tree) category at the Olympiad.

Organized for two days on October 1st and 2nd, this Olympiad was held at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. Everyone participated  spontaneously in the international Event on nutrition organized by the participation, leadership and initiative of adolescents and young people.

A total of 25,000 people participated in the qualifying round in 15 competitions offline and online in the whole Olympiad. Among them, 17 were selected as finalists in the What Can I Do (Action Tree) category. The topic of this category was “My role in preventing food waste”.

Seminars were organized for Olympiad participants on 4 topics: youth participation in nutrition policy formulation, youth entrepreneurship to ensure efficient food systems, ensuring school meals for all, safe street food for all. The Olympiad was inaugurated by SADHAN CHANDRA MAJUMDER, MP, Minister of Food Ministry of the Government of Bangladesh.

Deputy Education Minister Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel presented the award to the winner Mahfuz Rahman. He was the chief guest at the prize distribution and closing ceremony.

Students from  Dhaka University, Jagannath University, Dhaka Medical College, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Jessore Science and Technology University, Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Maulana Bhasani Science and Technology, different private universities and schools and colleges of the country participated in this Olympiad organized by Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University.
