The US imposed more sanctions on Russia on Friday (September 30) US local time in response to its annexation of four Ukrainian provinces by referendum.
In addition to the arms-industrial complex, two international suppliers, three major leaders of the financial sector, family members of several senior officials and 278 members of the Russian legislature have been placed under the sanctions. In this context, the US authorities said that strict measures will be taken against organizations outside of Russia that cooperate with the country’s military and those that support the annexation of Ukraine’s territory.
Earlier on Friday, the four provinces of Kherson, Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk and Luhansk were officially incorporated into Russia. The leaders of the four provinces signed the document of accession to Russia in a festive ceremony in Moscow’s historic Red Square. Russian President Vladimir Putin was present at the time.
