US position unchanged on RAB ban: Peter Haas

Peter Haas, the US ambassador assigned to Dhaka, said that there has been no change in the position of the United States regarding the ban on the Rapid Action Battalion- RAB. He made this comment at an event in Gulshan of the capital on Thursday (September 29).

In response to a question at the event, US Ambassador Peter Haas said, banning RAB is not a punishment. It is given so that they change their behavior.

In response to another question, Peter Haas said that Bangladesh’s non-joining of the Indo-Pacific Strategy-IPS is not an issue. Because it is a policy. It is a matter of seeing how Bangladesh takes it.
In response to a question, Peter Haas said that joining the Belt and Road Initiative – BRI is Bangladesh’s own decision. Which alliance Bangladesh will join is their matter.
