Sylhet Metro-District CID has arrested a top fraud chairman in a raid. He was arrested in a cheating case by the Sylhet Metropolitan (SMP) Airport police station. whose case is No-23/2022.

The arrested chairman is the son of deceased Shafiqul Haque of Sriramshi village of Jagannathpur police station of Sunamganj district and Chairman Md. Mahbubul Haque Sherin of No. 3-Mirpur Union Parishad, Jagannathpur.

On Wednesday (September 28) at around 2.30 am, a team of CID including Metro-District CID Investigating Officer Police Inspector (Retd) Sheikh Mohammad Rubel and Shah Muhammad Mubaswi conducted a special operation and arrested him from his home with the help of Jagannathpur police station.

The accused has been accused of extorting crores of rupees from many people in the name of “Amberkhana Housing Associate Private Limited Company” in the name of “Amberkhana Housing Associate Private Limited Company”, who are interested in investment and will be made directors of the company. Besides, there are three more cases under investigation against him on the charge of fraud at the airport police station. Police Inspector (retd) Sheikh Mohammad Rubel, investigating officer of the case, said that a large syndicate group including the accused is carrying out such criminal activities in collaboration. He said that this operation was conducted under the direction of Sylhet Metro-District Special Superintendent of Police CID Su Gyan Sir. Attempts are being made to bring other fraudsters under the law.
