In Sylhet, 5 businesses have been fined Tk 290,000 for selling and storing banned polythene bags which are harmful to the environment. Around two metric tons of banned polythene has been seized.

On Tuesday (September 27) from 11 am to 4 pm in Mahajanpatti area of ​​the city’s Bandar Bazar, the mobile court of Sylhet Divisional Environment Directorate conducted this operation.

It was led by – Sylhet Divisional Director of Directorate Mohammad Emran Hossain. He said we are always working to protect the balance of the environment. As before, we have fined 5 business establishments 2 lakh 90 thousand rupees through the mobile court for selling and storing banned polythene. Along with that, we have seized about 2 metric tons of banned polythene. which will be destroyed.’

The fined establishments are – Messrs. Bhai Bhai Store, Abdur Rauf & Sons, Tawakkulia Store, New Market No. 2 Lane, Razzak Market, Mahajanpatti area of ​​Bandarbazar, Messrs. Nazim Store, Lovely & Tamin Store, Mahajanpatti. They have been fined 50,000, 80,000, 20,000, 80,000 and 60,000 taka respectively.

Sylhet divisional director of Environment Department Mohammad Emran Hossain said that such operations will continue.
