Discussion meeting on the occasion of World Tourism Day at Kumarkhali
Zaker ALi Shuva: A discussion meeting was held on the occasion of World Tourism Day at the Upazila Parishad Conference Room in Kumarkhali, Kushtia on Tuesday (September 27) morning with the theme of ‘New Thoughts in Tourism’.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Bitan Kumar Mandal presided over by Social Service Officer Mohammad ALi, Upazila Women Vice Chairman Marina Akhter Meena, Kumarkhali Public Library General Secretary Mumtaz Begum and others were present.
The Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) said in his speech that Bangladesh is a country with huge tourism potential. Kumarkhali Upazila of Greater Kushtia District is considered as the capital of culture. In this upazila surrounded by Padma-Garai river, Lalon Fakir, Mir Masharraf Hossain’s Bastuvita, Bagha Jatin, journalistic pioneer Kangal Harinath Majumdar as well as Rabindra Kuthibari and many other mystics have potential tourist places. The number of tourists has increased in the country and the map containing details including location of sightseeing places, travel routes and distances, hotels-motels, security and communication is in progress for the purpose of digital services for overall support and guidance of tourists.
At this time, Kumarkhali Police Inspector (Investigation) Akibul Islam said that 4 million people of the country are closely involved with tourism. The Government is keen to increase skilled manpower in the tourism sector and ensure adequate facilities for domestic and foreign tourists visiting attractive tourist destinations. Kumarkhali of Kushtia is the most prosperous township in terms of this cultural township. Kangal Harinath was born in this township. The birthplace of writers like Mir Masharraf Hossain is in Kushtia district of Kumarkhali. The pride of Kushtia is as proud as the wise, poets and writers born in this Kumarkhali upazila.
Note: On the occasion of ‘World Tourism Day-2019’, Kaya Eco Park was inaugurated at 4:00 pm on September 27, 2019 at Kaya Union, Kushtia Kumarkhali. This Ecopark is a sight to behold, this park, which has been developed aesthetically with various types of trees, plants and beautiful flower gardens, has already caught the attention of the people of Kushtia. This festival has increased the level of various entertainment including Eid by a step and encouraged a different aspect in this traditional place of Bagha Jatin.
