1 killed, two women detained in Banyachang clash

A person named Isak Mia (45) was killed in a clash between two parties over an earlier dispute in Sujatpur of Baniachang. Two women have been detained for questioning in this incident. Besides, at least 10 others were injured. They were rescued and admitted to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital.
The deceased is the son of Kacham Ali of Purba Bazuka village of Sujatpur union of Miya upazila.
After receiving the news, the police recovered the body on Tuesday afternoon and sent it to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
According to local sources, the people of the same village, including Salam Miah, had been in dispute with Rafiqul Islam of that village for a long time on various issues of the village. Due to this, Rafiqul Islam’s uncle Isak Mia and his people along with Salam Mia talked about trivial incidents. At one point, opponents hit Isak Mia in the chest with a fickle. He died on the spot. After learning about the matter, people from both sides clashed with indigenous weapons. 10 more people were injured.
Among the injured, Oli Mia, Mahan Mia, Altach Mia, Johnny Mia and Nazma Akhtar have been admitted to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital. The rest were given first aid locally.
Meanwhile, since the incident, the police have conducted a raid in that village. However, as the village is devoid of men, two women were detained for questioning on Tuesday afternoon.
In this regard, Baniachong police station (OC) Ajay Chandra Dev said, I am still at the scene. Police are investigating the matter. The accused will be brought to justice quickly.
