Two people died due to lightning in Baniachang of Habiganj

Two farmers died due to lightning in Baniachang upazila of Habiganj.
The incident took place at Pithabari area of the upazila around 9:30 am on Saturday (September 24).
The deceased are Abdul Karim (65) son of Khatib Ullah of Majlishpur village of Baniachang upazila and Noor Uddin (50) son of Taj Ullah of the same village.
Locals said that Abdul Karim and Noor Uddin went to work in the agricultural land in Howrah Pithabari area near Majlishpur village on Saturday morning. They both died on the spot when lightning struck with rain at 9:30 am. Later local people went and brought the dead bodies to two houses.
In this regard, Baniachong Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Padmasan Singh said that the identities of the two people who died due to lightning have been collected. The district administration will provide cash assistance of 20,000 taka to each of their families.
