It has been alleged that the newborn died and the mother is in critical condition due to wrong treatment by the doctor of Bamai Al Shefa Diagnostic Center of Lakhai Upazila. There is panic in the upazila about this incident.
It is known that Gynecologist Dr. Mumtahina Akhter JC has become popular among the simple people of the area by treating her at Bamai Bara Bazar Al Shefa Diagnostic Center. Many patients went to Al Shefa Diagnostic Center for treatment without coming to Kishoreganj, Brahmanbaria and Habiganj. Similarly, Laiju Akhtar, wife of Safiqul Islam of Jirunda village in the upazila, went to the doctor to see the child’s face after 12 years of marriage. When he went to the doctor on August 24, he did an ultrasound and checked that the baby was normal and the husband said that it was a boy. Expected delivery date is mid-October. On September 14, the baby did not move and went to the doctor again. He also checked the ultra and said that water void has appeared. He advised to give oxygen and drink more water and saline. Later he went to Bamoi Upazila Health Complex and was given oxygen. After that, if the child does not move, go to the doctor again. He sent them to Dr. Paresh Chandra of Apan Diagnostic Center in Habiganj. After coming here on September 16, the doctor was found dead when he did an ultrasound on the moon. Then the doctor said that if the caesarean was performed on time, the baby and the mother would have been healthy. The child died because of the delay.
As of writing this report, Laiju Akta is battling death in the gynecological ward of Habiganj Sadar Hospital with a dead baby in her stomach. Even after 24 hours of admission, the gynecologist is not treating the woman. Another doctor said that there is a risk for Laiju Aktar as well.
Laizu’s husband said that this happened due to the mistake of the doctor of Al Shefa Diagnostic Center. He will take legal recourse in this regard. Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, owner of Al Shefa Diagnostic Center, said that doctor Jesse came from Brahmanbaria and sees patients at his center every Wednesday. He claimed that it was sent to Habiganj on time.
