Two police officers have testified in the sixth round of the rape case filed against the defunct committee of Hefazat Islam Mamunul Haque at Sonargaon police station in Narayanganj. They are Tabidur Rahman, former OC of Sonargaon Police Station (currently working at Chauddagram Police Station) and ASI Rakibul Islam Ujjal. Ujjwal is currently working at Gopalganj police station.

Narayanganj District and Sessions Judge Judge Munshi Moshiur Rahman’s testimony was taken in the court on Sunday.

A total of 13 witnesses were testified in this case. The next date of the case has been fixed on October 3.

On this day, two more police officers were supposed to testify in this case, but their testimony was not taken.

Narayanganj Special PP Rakib Ahmed said, during the testimony, two police officers told the court that Mamunul Haque was staying with a woman at the Royal Resort. After interrogating the arrested woman, the police came to know that Mamunul Haque brought the woman to the resort to entice her to marry and raped her. After getting the news that evening, Mamunul Haque’s followers attacked the resort and took away the woman along with him.

Advocate Omar Farooq Nayan, the lawyer for the accused side, said, “We found the words of the two witnesses mixed up.” There is no consistency in their words. The plaintiff in the case is the legal wife of Mamunul Haque. The government has forced a case against him. Now we don’t even know where the plaintiff is. If there is justice, he will be acquitted from this case.

Incidentally, on April 3, 2021, Mamunul Haque was staying with a woman at Royal Resort in Sonargaon, Narayanganj. At that time the local Awami League leaders and activists came and surrounded him. Later the activists and supporters of the local Hefazat came and ransacked the resort and abducted him. In this incident, the woman filed a rape case against Mamunul Haque at Sonargaon police station on April 30. However, Mamunul Haque is claiming that woman as his second wife.
