Covered van-bus collision on Dhaka-Chittagong highway, 4 killed

On the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, a collision between a covered van and a passenger bus Jonaki Paribahan took place. Four people were killed. 10 people including a policeman were injured in this incident.
The accident took place in front of the Sonar Pahar petrol pump in Zorarganj area of Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Wednesday (September 14) around 11:30 pm.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Zorarganj Highway Police Station Alamgir Hossain confirmed the matter.
The deceased are – Raipur village of Durgapur union of Mirsarai upazila. Mehedi Hasan (22) son of Haroon, Suman (28) and Sheikh Farid (30) son of Shamsuddin of Gariyaish village of Mirsrai Sadar Union and Abul Kashem of East Raipur area.
The injured are Zorarganj Highway Police Constable Md. Mustafa (45), Abdul Awal (50), Rafiq (25), Abdul Awal (50), Sheikh Ahmed (45).
Zorarganj Highway Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Saiful Islam Alamgir Hossain said that after leaving the Sona Pahar filling station on the bypass, a covered van hit the back of a Chittagong-bound truck and the truck hit the front Jonaki Paribahan bus. At that time, the CNG autorickshaw drivers were standing there with the highway policemen on duty. It has been confirmed that 4 people died on the spot after being hit by a Jonaki Paribahan bus. At that time police officer ASI Mustafa was injured. He was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. His condition is critical. SI Saiful Islam said that all three vehicles have been seized.
