Nabiganj rape of young woman life sentence of expatriate

A court has sentenced an expatriate to life imprisonment for raping a young woman in Nabiganj, Habiganj. At the same time, 1 year imprisonment without work was given in default of payment of fine of 10 thousand taka. The learned judge of Habiganj Women and Child Torture Prevention Tribunal-3, District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Halim Ullah Chowdhury passed the sentence yesterday on Monday afternoon. Special PP advocate Md. Mustafa Mia handled the case for the state.
Peshkar Md. Fazlu Mia said that Nitesh Roy (30), an expatriate from England of North Gaharpur village of Nabiganj upazila, raped a young woman of the same upazila several times. In view of this, the young woman filed a case as a plaintiff, and the judge gave a verdict after the testimony. At the time of the verdict, the accused was absconding. Peshkar Fazlu Miah also said that according to the order of the learned court, a warrant of punishment will be issued against the accused.
