RU students protest assault on Teacher, boycott classes
Ru Correspondent: Boycotting classes and examinations, students faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (VAC) of Rajshahi University monday release their Three-point demand including the expulsion of the accused Abu Sinha Soumik who is the main accused of attacking their teacher during a football match.
The student demanded this in press conference organized behind the Central Library of the university at 11.00 am. Later, they formed a human chain for the same demand.
Another points are- to take proper action against students related to the attack after identifying them from video footage and to ensure security during inter-department sports competitions. They also announced that they will not attend classes and examinations until the authority accept their demands.
Kayes Mahbub Shakib, a student of the VAS faculty said, ‘Although our respected teacher Dr. Md. Moizur Rahman introduced himself, he was disgraced by Soumik of IBA. We will wait for a week as the authority asked to go to a decision in this regard.”If we do not get a proper decision, we will go on hunger strike’, he added.
When asked about this matter on phone, Abu Sinha said that he was busy with a program.
Earlier, some players and supporters from both teams locked into a clash over a decision of the referee on Sunday during an inter-departmental football match between the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (VAS). At a stage of the clash, student and BCL president of IBA Abu Sinha Soumik grabbed the collar of a teacher playing at the opponent team.
