Scifinder inauguration and basic training in JnU
Md Towsif-Ur-Rahman, JnU Correspondent: On Wednesday, 7th Sept at 11:30 am, the Scifinder was officially inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Md. Imdadul Haque. A basic and advanced training sessions on Scifinder were conducted by an CSS expert Dr. Heather Cole. Dr. Andrews flew all the way from Australia to attend the inauguration program and assist in establishing Scifinder. Professor Dr. AKM Lutfor Rahman, JnU Teachers Association and Director of Research Professor Dr. Parimal Bala were also present in the program. Teachers and Students from all the departments were also present in the program.
Dr. Andrews Mckay in his speech said, “Jagannath University has a huge potential in research sector. I hope Scifinder will play a significant role in building their research careers of all the students and teachers. I hope Jagannath University will represent Bangladesh infront of the world.”
VC Dr. Md. Imdadul Haque sir said “Being a New university it was hard for us to subscribe for Scifinder. But we knew that it will play a significant role in the development of the research sector of Jagannath University. ”
After the Scifinder was inaugurated, a basic and advanced training sessions were conducted by an expert of CSS, Dr. Heather Cole. She joined in the program from Australia through Virtual Meeting. In the training session, she defined the basics about how to use the Scifinder to conduct the research.
Dr Shamsun Nahar, Chairman of Chemistry Department and the Convener of Scifinder Monitoring Committee said, “We appreciate the initiative of VC sir. Scifinder will help us develop in the research sector.”
Professor Dr. Sukumar Bepary, Prof of Pharmacy shared his experience on using Scifinder and showed gratitude towards VC Sir.
The students present in the meeting showed their gratitude towards the
Honourable VC because of such bold step in establishing Scifinder. Abul Bashar and Anika Tahsin, students of Chemistry department praised the steps of VC sir and hoped that one day Jagannath University will be rich in Research sectors.
