30 injured in A-League attack on BNP rally in Faridpur

It has been alleged that at least 30 people, including BNP co-organizing secretary Shahidul Islam Babul, district BNP convener Syed Modarres Ali Isa, were injured in an attack by Awami League on BNP’s foundation anniversary rally in Faridpur. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon in the court premises of the city.
BNP leaders complained in the press conference that Awami League leaders and activists carried out the attack in the presence of the police.
Eyewitnesses said that in the afternoon, the BNP convenor Syed Modarres Ali Isa presided over the rally, shortly after the start of the rally, leaders and activists of Chhatra League and Jubo League attacked there with a fleet of motorcycles. There was excitement there. When a section of BNP activists took a stand in front of the Bar Association building, they were suddenly attacked with sticks. BNP activists threw bricks in return. Jubo League Chhatra League workers rehearsed with sticks for about half an hour.
Later, the district Awami League held a rally at the same place. It is claimed that BNP attacked their procession there.
Meanwhile, BNP leaders and activists were blocked in the building of the lawyers’ association. Later, in an immediate press conference at the lawyers’ association building, district BNP convenor Syed Modarres Ali Isa and member secretary AK Kibria Swapan said that they were holding a rally there with the permission of Faridpur Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police. They were told by the administration that you will hold a peaceful program. But they attacked our peaceful program with weapons. The attack is fueled by the police and the administration.
BNP central committee co-organizing secretary and Krishak Dal general secretary Shahidul Islam Babul, Khandkar Mashukur Rahman Mashuk, district BNP convener Syed Modarres Ali Isa, member secretary AKM Kibria Swapan, Mahila Dal central committee joint general secretary Nayab Yusuf and others were present in the press conference.
