At 262 meters high and 62 meters wide, INS Vikrant is the largest warship built by India. 20 thousand crore rupees have been spent in making this 45 thousand ton warship. This warship has a crew accommodation of 1,600. It has the facility to fly fighter jets like MiG-29K. A total of 30 aircraft will be able to take off.
The construction of this warship has been going on for more than a decade. The trial began in August last year. The navy informed that the sea trial was successful after years of ongoing experiments.
There was another warship in the Indian Navy named INS Vikrant. Which played an important role in the war against Pakistan during the rise of Bangladesh in 1971. The ship was scrapped in the late 1990s. Until now INS Vikramaditya was the only aircraft carrier of the Indian Navy. It was purchased from Russia in 2014.
After getting Vikrant in hand, India entered the list of countries like America, Britain, Russia, China, France as aircraft carrier building countries. Besides, all the machines or equipment used in INS Vikrant were also taken from various organizations in India.
