Awami League General Secretary and Minister of Roads, Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has commented that Jamaat and BNP sometimes pretend to leave (each other) but inside they are at each other’s throats.

He made this comment in the speech of the chief guest at the discussion meeting and doa mahfil ceremony at the central office of Awami League at 23 Bangabandhu Avenue on Wednesday. The event was organized by the Bangladesh Farmers League.

Obaidul Quader said, ‘Bangabandhu had many dreams. He himself made one of those dreams a reality and brought freedom. I believe, Allah has sent one for freedom and another for economic liberation (Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina). What has happened in Bangladesh is at the hands of the benevolent Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina. At the hands of Sheikh Hasina, there has been so much development in such a short time which is rare in the world.

Obaidul Quader said, ‘Ziaur Rahman did not allow the trial of Bangabandhu’s murder. When August 15 comes, BNP celebrates its birthday and rejoices. We and the countrymen have no objection to doa mahfil for Khaleda Zia. But the people of the country have objections to doa mahfil on the occasion of fake birthday. Why is Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir so afraid to face the truth?

General Secretary of Awami League said, “Ziaur Rahman did not give justice to the murder of Bangabandhu.” He was also not tried for murder. Can you show a proof that Ziaur Rahman’s body was in the coffin? The body was brought from Chittagong and performed the funeral. Can you show a picture of his body in the coffin? Can you show a proof?’

Obaidul Quader said in response to the statement by BNP leaders that Awami League will be judged, ‘Who will be judged? You have a lot of judgment left. Bangabandhu’s murder trial was stopped by Ziaur Rahman. He survived the court of man but not the court of history. There is not only the court of man, but also the court of history. There are many more trials left Mirza Fakhrul Sahib!’

Obaidul Quader said, “Who will judge Fakhrul Islam Alamgir for the murder of his party’s missing person?” They themselves killed the leader of the party – that trial is pending. That too has been leaked. Unnecessary false disappearances, murder and how much? Indeed, the Prime Minister has instructions to investigate those who have gone missing.

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said, “Awami League speaks with fear.” Awami League is not a party to fear. Why are you afraid? Those who do not know how to conquer fear are cowards. They have no right to do politics. Learn to overcome fear.’

Mentioning that some BNP leaders and activists are entering the field, he said, “We are seeing fights in all the meetings of BNP.” The fights themselves are creating chaos. And slandering Awami League prevented. Wait, let the election come. Take part in the election, you will see who’s popularity is.

Obaidul Quader said, “There is no precedent for reducing the price of anything in this situation of the world. But Sheikh Hasina reduced the price of oil. Then BNP is lying – this is the character of BNP.

Obaidul Quader urged party leaders and workers to be alert and said, ‘Awami League leaders and activists should be alert and proceed with a cool head. We will not attack anyone. If someone attacks us, we have to respond.
