20 people including ASP (Circle), OC were injured in the clash between police and BNP in Chittagong’s Banshkhali. This incident happened on Friday (August 26) afternoon. Miskatul Islam Chowdhury Bappa, the son of South District BNP president and former Member of Parliament of Banshkhali and former State Minister for Forest and Environment Zafrul Islam Chowdhury said that the clash took place due to a misunderstanding between the police and their leaders and activists.

It is known on the ground that BNP has called for a protest march and rally in Banshkhali. The rally was supposed to be held in Pukuria Union. But knowing the news of Banskhali Upazila Awami League BNP rally, the union-based leaders and activists occupied the main roads of Banskhali from Friday morning by calling for meetings in their respective locations. Later, BNP organized a rally at South District BNP President Zafrul Islam Chowdhury’s house in Paschim Gunagari.

It is also known that at 4:00 pm, when the protesters were returning home from the rally on the main road, bricks were thrown at the police. At that time, most of the leaders and activists of BNP, Juba Dal, Chhatra Dal had sticks in their hands. The clash lasted from 4 pm to 6 pm. The police brought the situation under control by firing rubber bullets and batons.

South District Women’s Party President Jannatul Naeem Chowdhury said that when the BNP leaders and activists were stopped on their way by the procession, the police pelted them with stones and stones. He did not attack the police unnecessarily. I tried hard but couldn’t get to the assembly.
