An 18-month-old child named Jannat Akhter fell into the water while visiting his maternal grandmother’s house in Haldarpur village of Baniachong upazila. He fell into the pond while playing next to the house on Tuesday afternoon. The family members rescued him and brought him to Habiganj Sadar Hospital where the doctor declared him dead. However, the body of the child was lying in front of the emergency department when the report was written at 10 pm due to the doctor’s ECG and the police. Many who came to the hospital are commenting that the baby died in the afternoon. But his body is in legal trouble. Questions are being raised as to when the body will be taken home and when it will be buried. But earlier, when a patient came to the hospital, the old doctors used to say that the patient died without an ECG. But now even if the patient dies, the novice doctors can’t say anything right without ECG. As a result, the relatives of the deceased have to suffer.
Sadar police station has prepared a report of the dead body. According to the police, it is not possible to hand over the body on time due to legal complications. If post-mortem is not done then the body will be handed over if the learned ADM gives permission based on the opinion of the OCs of the two police stations. Jannat is the daughter of Mojahid Mia, a resident of Tegharia Union of Sadar Upazila.
