A joint operation by the BGB and police in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, recovered 11,200 pieces of Yaba tablets hidden inside a Bluetooth speaker from a courier service cargo store. A suspected rider has been identified in the incident, but he is absconding. A drive is underway to arrest him. The Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) gave this information in a press release on Thursday (July 30). The BGB said that a drive was conducted based on a secret tip-off and a parcel booked as a Bluetooth speaker was searched.

Later, the electrical components inside the speaker were opened and 11,200 Yaba tablets were recovered from six packets wrapped in black scotch tape. Initial investigation revealed that the parcel was sent from Narayanganj to Teknaf. Later, it was submitted to the courier service again for return stating that the ‘product is not correct’. After analyzing the information of the courier company, the identity of a rider carrying the parcel has been identified.

Quoting eyewitnesses, the BGB said that after submitting the parcel, the rider quickly left the place. The BGB claims that the name of the identified rider is Md. Jamal. His home is in the Nayapara area of Sabrang Union of Teknaf Upazila. The BGB and the police are jointly conducting an operation to arrest him and others involved in this shipment. The estimated market value of the recovered Yaba is 33 lakh 60 thousand taka.

Teknaf Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Hanifur Rahman Bhuiyan said that BGB’s intelligence surveillance and coordinated operations with other law enforcement agencies will be further strengthened to prevent drug trafficking and smuggling in the border area. The recovered Yaba and other evidence have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station through a regular case.
