Old man dies due to cousin’s knife

Abdul Motalib Kalu (62) died after being hit by his cousin’s knife due to a land dispute in Kapasia, Gazipur. He died last Saturday night while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMH). He was attacked that morning in Chala village of Bhuban in Kapasia Sadar Union. While protecting him, his son was injured. Masum (30). He is undergoing treatment at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College and Hospital in Gazipur.
According to local sources, there was a dispute over the land of Arif Hossain, a resident of the same village and maternal uncle, with Abdul Motalib of Chala village in Bhuban. There was an argument between them on Saturday morning. At one point, Arif hit Motalib on the back of the head with an iron sword. His son Masum, who came forward to protect him, was also beaten at this time.
Neighbors rescued father and son and took them to Kapasia Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty sent Motalib to DMK and Masum to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur after seeing the condition serious. Motalib died in the night after being admitted to Dham.
Kapasia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AFM Nasim said that if the relatives of the deceased make a complaint, they will investigate the matter. Legal action will be taken later.
