A woman was apprehended red-handed and handed over to the police thanks to the vigilance and prompt action of Ansar members stationed at the Kaliakair Upazila Health Complex in Gazipur. The incident occurred around 11:30 AM on Wednesday (September 23) in front of the hospital’s outpatient ticket counter. The intervention not only thwarted the theft attempt but also brought a potentially chaotic situation under control, maintaining security within the hospital premises.

According to eyewitnesses and hospital sources, a group of women attempted to create a disturbance in front of the outpatient ticket counter around 11:20 AM. Ansar members on duty immediately stepped in to bring the situation under control. At one point, one of the women deliberately picked a quarrel with Mst. Sharmin Khatun (30), who was standing in the ticket queue. This sparked a tense situation.

It is alleged that, seizing this opportunity, the woman tried to snatch the gold chain from Sharmin Khatun’s neck by reaching underneath her hijab from behind. Realizing what was happening, Sharmin Khatun immediately caught the woman red-handed. Ansar member Md. Ershad Ali, who was on duty, quickly arrived at the scene and detained the accused woman. Later, with the assistance of Md. Sagar Mia and Md. Masum Hasan, she was handed over to the hospital authorities.

The detained woman has been identified as Mrs. Nur Jahan Begum (27). Her husband’s name is Chhut Mia, and she reportedly hails from Dharmagarh village in Brahmanbaria district. Subsequently, the hospital authorities handed the detained woman over to the Kaliakair police. The vigilance and swift action taken by the Ansar members responsible for hospital security have been highlighted in this incident.
