Alhaj AKM Fazlul Haque Milon, Member of Parliament for the Gazipur-5 (Kaliganj) constituency, has begun work in phases to fulfill the promises made prior to the 13th National Parliamentary Election. Development activities are progressing across various sectors, including education, healthcare, transportation, social and religious institutions, and youth employment. He made these remarks while attending an exchange meeting with leaders of the Upazila and Municipal BNP units—held at the Swapno Kanon Resort in the Nagari area—as the chief guest. Milon serves as the MP for Gazipur-5 and as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.

At the meeting, MP Milon stated, “I demonstrate development through action, not just words. Look into the history of Kaliganj’s development—you will find me everywhere.” “Since being elected as the Member of Parliament, I have prioritized the education sector in my development initiatives.” On September 15, development projects worth approximately Tk 13 crore were inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid across seven educational institutions in Kaliganj. These included laying the foundation stone for a four-story academic building at Muslin Cotton Mills High School. Additionally, newly constructed buildings were inaugurated at Kaliganj Government Girls’ High School, Jugli High School, Jamalpur Rajmohan Vidyapith, Chupair Girls’ School, Bhaiyasuti High School, and Kalikuti Dakhil Madrasa.

Furthermore, 93 educational institutions in the Upazila received digital smart boards, educational materials, cultural and sports equipment, and water filters; bicycles were distributed to 157 meritorious but financially disadvantaged students, and sewing machines were given to 150 destitute women. He further mentioned that three projects worth approximately Tk 17 crore have been inaugurated to improve the road communication network in Kaliganj. These projects include the HBB (Herringbone Bond) surfacing of the road from local resident Hashem Sheikh’s house to Solaiman-er-Tek Mosque in Moktarpur Union; the Majhukhan-to-Kaliganj scenic road project; and the road development project connecting Jangalia GC to Dolon Bazar via Jamalpur GC in Jamalpur Union. Alongside development activities, goats were provided to 20 families and house-building materials to 10 families as social and humanitarian assistance.

Additionally, cheques worth Tk 1 crore 70 thousand were distributed for the development of 83 institutions, including mosques, temples, churches, madrasas, orphanages, and social organizations. Furthermore, 19 tonnes of rice were distributed among 19 madrasas and orphanages in the upazila. MP Milon stated that initiatives have been taken to upgrade the capacity of the Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex from the current 50 beds to 100 beds. Plans are also in place to recruit necessary doctors and health workers and to install modern medical equipment.

Efforts are underway to bring modern machinery, including MRI equipment, to the hospital. Regarding the youth, he remarked that the young generation is our greatest strength. Instead of merely chasing jobs, youth must be provided with technical training, vocational education, and necessary support to enhance their skills and help them become entrepreneurs. Creating an environment conducive to new industries and investment will generate employment opportunities for thousands of young men and women in Kaliganj.
