Allegations have surfaced regarding an assault—involving the beating of two individuals (including a woman), the brandishing of a pistol, and the theft of a gold chain—stemming from a dispute over the ownership, mutation, and attempted sale of 34 decimals of land in Muksudpur, Gopalganj. The affected family has demanded administrative intervention and legal action regarding the incident. Members of the affected family raised these allegations during a press conference held on Saturday afternoon (September 19, 2026).

At the press conference, they detailed the incident and demanded that necessary measures be taken against those involved, subject to an investigation. A written complaint filed with the police station by the victim, Laboni Akter, states that on September 17 around 4:00 PM, several individuals entered their home armed with iron rods, *ramdas* (large curved machetes), bamboo sticks, and bricks. It is alleged that Laboni Akter and Nasir Uddin Sheikh were beaten during the incident.

Furthermore, allegations were made that an attempt was made to molest Laboni Akter by manhandling her clothing, and that a gold chain weighing approximately eight *anas* (valued at around Tk 1 lakh 12 thousand was snatched from her neck. The complaint further states that the attackers threatened to kill them and that one individual brandished a pistol. The injured parties subsequently received medical treatment at the Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex.

The affected family claims that the 34 decimals of land in the Borobhatra *Mouza* of Muksudpur Upazila were held under a one-year lease (*ek-sana bandobasta*) in the name of their grandfather, Baher Sheikh. The application notes that the land’s old *Khatian* (record of rights) number is 54 and the current number is 297; the old *Dag* (plot) number is 1044 and the current number is 1249. They allege that Nilkantha Mondal has initiated a move to sell the land after having the mutation (*namjari*) recorded in his own name.

A separate written application seeking redress regarding this matter has also been submitted to the Muksudpur Upazila Executive Officer (UNO). However, the actual ownership of the land, the validity of the lease, the mutation status, and current possession—along with other related issues—need to be verified through government records and investigations by the relevant authorities. Statements from the relevant administration and the police regarding the incident will be added once obtained.

Similarly, statements from the individuals named in the allegations will also be published if received. The affected family has stated that they expect a fair investigation into the incident, as well as security and legal redress. The matters raised in the allegations are subject to investigation, and no party is being deemed guilty pending a final decision by the court or the relevant authorities.
