The first Community Police Kabaddi Championship-2026 tournament has kicked off in Netrakona with the aim of building a healthy, disciplined, and well-adjusted nation free from drugs and terrorism. The District Police of Netrakona organized this Kabaddi tournament at the local Moktarpara Ground on Saturday (September 19) at 9:00 AM. Md. Jahidul Hasan (BPM-Seba), DIG of Mymensingh Range, inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest by releasing balloons and pigeons—symbols of peace.

Presided over by Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Tariqul Islam and moderated by Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Md. Hafizul Islam, the inaugural ceremony featured an address by the chief guest, DIG Md. Jahidul Hasan. Deputy Commissioner Khandakar Mushfiqur Rahman spoke as a special guest. Other speakers at the event included Kanai Lal Sarkar, SP of the Netrakona In-Service Training Center, and Municipal Administrator Munmun Jahan Liza. In his address, DIG Md. Jahidul Hasan remarked, “A healthy body fosters a beautiful mind.”

He noted that the current government places the utmost importance on sports to build a healthy, disciplined, and well-adjusted nation free from drugs and terrorism. He further stated that sports do not merely provide entertainment for spectators but play a vital role in nation-building. He urged children and adolescents to participate actively in various sports—including football, cricket, and kabaddi—alongside their academic studies.

Superintendent of Police Md. Tariqul Islam stated that the tournament was organized with several objectives: inspiring the young generation toward a healthy, disciplined, and positive lifestyle; keeping them away from drugs, gambling, and social degradation; creating opportunities for grassroots talents to flourish; and fostering harmony, goodwill, and a sense of brotherhood among the district’s upazilas. Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md. Rezwan Ahmed stated that 10 boys’ teams and 9 girls’ teams from the district’s 10 upazilas are participating in the kabaddi tournament. In the opening match, the Netrokona Sadar boys’ team made a winning start by defeating the Kalmakanda boys’ team.
