Disaster Preparedness Training for Volunteers held in Hatiya

A two-day training program has commenced in Hatiya, Noakhali, aimed at enhancing the capacity of local volunteers to handle disasters. Thirty disaster volunteers from Char Ishwar Union, Char King Union, and Hatiya Municipality are participating in the program. The training began at 10:00 AM on Tuesday (September 15) at the training room of the Dwip Unnayan Sangstha in Hatiya.
Organized under the EVCR project, the training covers topics such as disaster preparedness, early warning systems, anticipatory actions, and providing assistance to vulnerable populations. On the opening day, Hatiya Upazila Project Implementation Officer Anisur Rahman discussed disaster early warnings, the use of technology, and government assistance following disasters.
The second day will focus on search and rescue operations, evacuation to shelters, the role of disaster management committees, risks faced by women, and the duties and responsibilities of volunteers. The project is being implemented by Nazrul Smriti Sangsad (NSS) and Participatory Research and Action Network (PRAN) with the support of Start Fund Bangladesh.
