A Jubo Dal leader named Mujibur Rahman and an Awami League leader named Hari Anand in Rupganj, Narayanganj, have been accused of grabbing government land.
On Friday morning, when Jubo Dal leader Mujibur and Awami League leader Harinand went to build a house by grabbing government land in the Dakshinbagh area of the upazila, local residents stopped them. Later, Hari Anand threatened them. Mujibur Rahman is the joint general secretary of the Jubo Dal in Ward No. 3 of Rupganj Union.
Locals said that there are several government lands in the Dakshinbagh area of the upazila.
A local resident named Rashedul Islam took allocation from the Upazila Executive Officer to build a madrasa for the maintenance of all these government lands.
To forcibly occupy the government land, Jubo Dal leader Mujibur Rahman and Awami League leader Hari Anand went to build a house.
At that time, when Rashedul Islam and the locals resisted, Mujibur Rahman and Hari Anand and their people threatened him.
He even threatened to kill Rashedul Islam and drown him in Shitalakshya if he obstructed the construction of the house again. Due to this, Rashedul Islam and his family are suffering from insecurity.
Amin, a local land surveyor who did not want to be named, said, “I measured it according to the design and saw that it is government land.”
In this regard, Rashedul Islam said, I have allocated government land for the construction of a madrasa. Where the poorest and orphaned boys and girls will study.
But a BNP leader named Mujibur Rahman and an Awami League leader named Hari Anand are trying to occupy that land by building houses. When I tried to stop them, Jubo Dal leader Mujibur Rahman threatened to kill me.
In this regard, the accused Jubo Dal leader Mujibur Rahman said, the land on which the houses are being built is not government land.
In this regard, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Saiful Islam said, “Since I came to know about the matter, I will go to the spot and investigate and take action. If the truth is found, action will be taken against the accused.”
