Another example of the vigilance and professionalism of the members deployed to keep the security system stronger and more effective at the country’s main international airport has been set.

Through responsible activities, members of the Ansar Battalion at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport have been able to recover a large quantity of narcotics.

A passenger was arrested with 4,364 pieces of Yaba tablets during the pre-boarding security check at the airport on Monday morning. The name of the arrested person is Saidul Islam. His home is in Madhurchar area of Dohar upazila of Dhaka.

According to information, he came to the airport to travel on US-Bangla Airlines flight number BS-381 to Saudi Arabia. After entering through heavy luggage gate-4, he completed check-in at row “C” of the designated counter. Later, he appeared for pre-boarding security check at boarding bridge number C2.

During the pre-boarding stage, the Ansar Battalion member Sepoy Shamim Reza, who was on duty during the bag scanning, found the bag suspicious and ordered Civil Security member Hizbul Bahar to conduct a random search. During the search, objects resembling Yaba tablets were found inside the bag.

Later, Ansar member Shamim Reza and Security Supervisor Morsheda confirmed the matter and immediately informed the AVSEC authorities and the Narcotics Control Department.

Upon receiving the information, officials of the Narcotics Control Department reached the spot and counted the recovered tablets and seized a total of 4,364 pieces of Yaba.

Later, the airline authorities offloaded the passenger from the flight and the AVSEC authorities handed him over to the Narcotics Control Department for further legal action.

This incident has once again demonstrated that the Ansar Battalion members deployed in the airport security system are performing their duties with utmost caution, skill and sense of responsibility.

Their activities are not only playing an important role in preventing drug trafficking, but are also playing a helpful role in making the country’s airport security system more credible and effective.
