The District Bar Association held a press conference demanding change of duties of two judges in Jashore. The lawyers alleged that various legal irregularities are taking place in the conduct of trial proceedings in the court. They have announced that they will submit a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner on March 11 if the issue is not resolved quickly. The press conference was organized on Monday afternoon in the library room of the Jashore District Bar Association.
The press conference was presided over by District Bar Association President and PP Advocate Syed AH Saberul Haque Sabu. About 50 to 60 lawyers were present at the press conference. The lawyer leaders said that they felt that various legal irregularities are taking place in the conduct of trial proceedings in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge-2 and Acting District Judge Irin Parveen and Joint District and Sessions Judge-1 Rashedur Rahman.
They said that some incidents that took place during the trial proceedings in the District and Sessions Judge Court on March 4 created discontent among the lawyers. Later, based on a written request from more than two hundred lawyers, an emergency meeting was held and a decision was taken to boycott the courts of the two judges. Advocate Syed AH Saberul Haque Sabu said that the lawyers want to perform their duties in the court in the interest of the litigants.
However, in the current situation, if another judge is assigned to replace the acting District Judge Irene Parveen, the lawyers will return to the court again. Additional police have been deployed in the court premises without resolving the issue. They claimed that an attempt is being made to create a confrontation between the police and the lawyers. Some of the judge’s comments during the hearing of the case related to the check have created concern among the lawyers and the litigants. If the problem is not resolved quickly, a procession will be taken out from the Lawyers’ Building at 1 pm on March 11 and a memorandum will be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner.
