‘Cleaning not just roads, but the society’: Jamaat MP leads cleanliness drive in Joypurhat
As part of a nationwide central program, the Joypurhat district unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami launched a road-cleaning campaign in the district town on Sunday.
The initiative was led by Fazlur Rahman Sayeed, the newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for the Joypurhat-1 (Sadar-Panchbibi) constituency and the District Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami. The drive commenced in the town’s Purbo Bazar area, where local residents joined party activists with brooms in hand to clear waste from the streets.
Addressing the participants, MP Fazlur Rahman Sayeed stated that the cleanliness drive is a symbolic start to a larger movement.
“This program is being held across all constituencies in the country. We start here from Purbo Bazar. Our goal is not limited to cleaning the roads; we want to rid every level of society of its deep-seated filth and corruption,” MP said.
Expressing gratitude to his constituents, Sayeed added, “You have elected me with your valuable votes. I seek your prayers and cooperation. Let us work together to build a developed, clean, and waste-free Joypurhat. I will strive to resolve all issues, including health, education, and infrastructure development, step by step, Insha’Allah.”
The event was attended by several senior district leaders, including District Assistant Secretary Hasibul Alam Liton, Town Ameer Mawlana Saidur Rahman, and Assistant Secretary Engineer Golam Mortuza, along with local activists and members of the public.
