In addition to government initiatives, non-governmental development organization World Vision Bangladesh is running “Roots Learning Centers” in various areas to prepare underprivileged children for entering primary school and improve their literacy skills.

On Tuesday, February 17, Upazila Education Officer Bidyut Ranjan Saha visited the “Hands-on Learning Roots Center” in the Paikgacha Batikhali Christian Mission area run by the Paikgacha Area Program.

Paikgacha Area Program Manager Biplob Ishaq Sardar, Sponsorship and Child Protection Officer Dipal Biswas, Program Officer Shilpi Roy, Junior Officer Rini Magdalena Pari were present at the time.

During the visit, Education Officer Bidyut Ranjan Saha highly praised the Learning Roots Center and assured the best possible cooperation in getting a house if needed to run such centers in each union.

He further mentioned that the education that the young children have received together through various events, especially corner games, outdoor games, singing and dancing, is very beneficial and the children have grown happily.

It is worth noting that World Vision has operated a total of 40 Learning Roots Centers in Paikgachha Upazila.

The main goal is to develop the intellectual development, social and emotional development, language and physical development of 1,000 children aged 3 to 5 years and make them suitable for admission to formal schools.
