Ramu Thana Police has arrested a drug dealer with 1 lakh 50 thousand pieces of Yaba in a special operation in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar.

An unmarked pickup (dump truck) used for transporting drugs was seized at that time. Police said that on Tuesday (February 17, 2026) at around 4 am, Ramu Thana Police conducted a special operation to recover weapons and drugs.

Based on secret information, it was learned that a large quantity of Yaba is being smuggled from the Marichya area via Ramu towards the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway in an unmarked pickup truck.

To verify the veracity of the news, the police set up a temporary check post on the Marichya-Ramu road south of the Shikolghata Bridge under Ramu Thana at around 7:30 am and started a search.

At 9:15 am, an unmarked pickup truck heading towards Ramu bypass tried to cross the checkpost and the police signaled it to stop.

But the driver ignored the signal and tried to break the barrier and escape. Later, the police chased the pickup and it stopped in front of Ramu Central Government Primary School in Fatekharkul Union.

At that time, 3-4 people tried to escape from the car. However, a person named Md. Harun (29) was arrested with a white sack in his hand. The detainee’s home is in Purba Dariyardighi Mandalpara area of ​​​​Khuniapalong Union in Ramu Upazila. His father is Hossain Ahmed and mother is Rashida Begum.

Police said that 15 packets of Yaba tablets were found after searching the sack in front of the witnesses present. A total of 1 lakh 50 thousand Yaba tablets, 10 thousand pieces in each packet, were seized.

Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) and media focal point Alok Biswas said that preparations are underway to file a case under the relevant law in this incident. Police are continuing their efforts to arrest the other fugitives.
