A special operation by Ramgarh 43 BGB in Khagrachari has seized 24 kg of Indian cannabis from the Panuachhara border area of Bhujpur police station in Chittagong.

On Saturday, February 7, a special operation was conducted by the patrol team of Panuachhara BOP camp under Ramgarh 43 BGB. As part of the operation, the patrol team strategically positioned itself in the Rahmatpur Harbatli area, approximately 500 yards inside Bangladesh from the border pillar 2205/6 RB. At around 5 pm, three smugglers from India tried to enter Bangladesh with drugs, but the BGB patrol team challenged them.

At that time, the smugglers left the two bags they were carrying at the spot and quickly fled inside India. Later, the patrol team searched the area and seized a total of 24 kg of marijuana wrapped in 24 small packets from two abandoned bags.

BGB sources said that necessary legal action is in the process of being taken regarding the recovered marijuana. Ramgarh 43 BGB Commander Lt. Col. Ahsan ul Islam said that the BGB has always followed a zero tolerance policy against smuggling and drug trafficking. Such operations to prevent drug and other smuggling in the border area will continue in the future.

He further said that in addition to conducting border security and operational activities, the BGB is also working 24 hours a day at the border to make the general public aware of the harmful effects of drugs. He called on all concerned to cooperate with the BGB by providing information to prevent smuggling, drugs, human trafficking and illegal infiltration at the border.
