High Court has issued a rule of contempt against a total of five people including the Chittagong Port Authority Chairman for deciding to lease the place of Kornfuli river by disobeying the court order.

High Court has given some instructions in the public interest case filed by HRPB for protection of Karnfuli river and directed to take measures to protect Karnfuli river as per survey. The Chittagong Port Authority has decided to lease the part of the Kornfuli river which is shown as a river in the survey. For that reason why the court will not be punished for disobeying the court order against Chittagong Port Chairman SM Moniruzzaman Administration Additional Secretary Md. Habibur Rahman, Member Finance Md. Shahidul Alam, Member Engineering Commodor Kausar Rashid and Assistant Manager of Property Department Mohammad Rayan Uddin Do the High Court.

Court has issued a status order on all following activities regarding land issues of Firingi Bazar Mauja’s BRS Dag No. 601
HRPB’s strategic senior advocate Morshed Morshed said evacuation of illegal establishments along the Kornfuli river as per the directions of the court’s verdict on protection of the Kornfuli river, river protection instructions as per the river border and court should take action according to law if any action is taken against the river’s location in water conservation law Instructions given.

He also said CPA issued contempt rule against court chairman for leasing the place of Kornfuli river and ordered the status.

Some land of Firingi Bazar Maujar BS 601 stained in Chittagong Port Authority river recognized as river in survey challenging the decision to lease it to Chittagong City Corporation, a court contempt case filed in favor of HRPB.

Today at the end of the hearing, Justice Fahmida Qader and Justice Mohammad Asif Hasan’s court issued contempt rule against five people including Chittagong court chairman and ordered the status.
Applicants for HRPB are Advocate Md Sarwar Ahad Chowdhury and Akhlas Uddin Bhuia and the controversies are Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman, Mohammad Habibur Rahman, Mohammad Shahidul Alam, Commodor Kausar Rashid, Mohammad Rayhan Uddin
Senior Advocate Manzil Morsed conducted a hearing in favor of theist in the case.
