On the occasion of the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026 to be held on February 12, there have been allegations of firing at Md. Sipon Bhuiyan, the (independent) MP candidate with the horse symbol in Gopalganj-2 constituency.

The incident took place on his way home at night after the election campaign. He fell and was injured while running in a hurry to save his life. After receiving the information, the police quickly visited the scene.

The incident is said to have taken place at around 8 pm on Friday (February 6) in Notun Char Bhuiyanpara of Chandradighalia area of ​​​​Gopalganj Sadar Upazila.

Md. Sipon Bhuiyan said that he was going home to get money to pay for car rental after finishing the election campaign. Before he reached the road to his house, unknown miscreants fired at him.

He fell and was injured when he tried to run for his life. However, he could not say anything about who carried out the attack. Police visited the scene after receiving information about the incident.

Inspector Mohammad Momenul Islam of the Gopinathpur Police Investigation Center said that the matter is being investigated seriously. The independent candidate said that preparations are underway to file a complaint in this incident.
