National Library Day–2026 was celebrated in Chapainawabganj with due enthusiasm and dignity, in line with nationwide observances, under the slogan “Knowledge is Freedom, the Foundation of the Future.” On the occasion, the District Government Public Library, Chapainawabganj, organized a colorful rally and a discussion meeting for the ninth consecutive time.

The rally was held on Wednesday morning, starting from the District Government Public Library premises and parading through the city’s important roads. Later, a discussion meeting was held at the library auditorium.

The discussion meeting was attended as the chief guest by Md. Nakib Hasan Tarfadar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall), Chapainawabganj. Special guests included A.N.M. Wasim Firoz, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration & Finance), and noted educationist Professor Dr. Biplab Kumar Majumder, Principal of Chapainawabganj Government Women’s College.

The program was presided over by Sajia Afrin, Librarian of the District Government Public Library. Guardians, teachers, young and senior readers, and students from various educational institutions also took part in the discussion.

Speakers at the meeting emphasized that libraries play a vital role in building a knowledge-based society. They noted that, despite rapid technological advancement, public libraries must be made more effective to sustain the habit of reading books and inspire future generations to engage in the pursuit of knowledge.

At the end of the program, prizes and certificates were distributed among the winners of various competitions organized in observance of National Library Day.
