A person has been arrested with 12 thousand pieces of Burmese Yaba worth 36 lakh taka in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar during a raid by Ramu Battalion (30 BGB).

The raid was conducted at the Marichya Joint Checkpost under Ramu Sector on Wednesday (January 28) afternoon. The name of the arrested person is Md. Rubel (33). He is a resident of Baganpara area of ​​Chakaria Upazila.

BGB sources said that based on intelligence information, under the direction of Ramu Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mahtab Uddin Ahmed and led by Major Md. Ashikur Rahman, patrolling was intensified at the Marichya Joint Checkpost. At that time, a suspicious pickup van was stopped and searched.

Although the detainee initially denied carrying Yaba, 12 thousand pieces of Burmese Yaba were recovered from a specially hidden location inside the front mudguard of the pickup, with an estimated market value of Tk 36 lakh.

BGB said that in addition to ensuring border security, the Ramu Battalion is conducting regular operations to combat smuggling, drug trafficking, illegal infiltration and inter-state border crimes.

As a result of such operations, the activities of drug smugglers in the border area have significantly reduced. The process of filing a case against the detained accused under the relevant law is underway.
