Imam Conference Held in Chapainawabganj to Promote Referendum and Motivate Voters

To promote the upcoming referendum and encourage voter participation, a district-level “Imam Conference–2026” was held in Chapainawabganj. The conference took place on Tuesday at 10:00 am on the open stage of the Deputy Commissioner’s premises, jointly organized by the district administration and the Islamic Foundation, Chapainawabganj.

The chief guest of the conference was the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Chapainawabganj Md. Shahadat Hossain Masud. He said, “Imams play an undeniable role in building a prosperous nation. In the upcoming referendum, Imams can play an important social and religious role in encouraging people to come to polling centers and make the right decision.”

The conference was chaired by Md. Golam Mostafa, Deputy Director of the Islamic Foundation, Chapainawabganj. Special guests included Superintendent of Police Gautam Kumar Biswas, Deputy Director of the Local Government Department Ujjwal Kumar Ghosh, Civil Surgeon Dr. A.K.M. Shahab Uddin, Director of the Islamic Encyclopedia Department (IFA, Dhaka) Md. Zakir Hossain and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Maruf Afzal Rajan.
Speakers at the conference emphasized the importance of the upcoming referendum and highlighted the role of religious leaders in promoting awareness about the ‘Yes/No’ vote. Imams and khatibs from various mosques across the district pledged their spontaneous participation in the campaign. The program concluded with a special prayer seeking peace and prosperity for the country.
