Two local firearms and four rounds of live cartridges have been recovered in a joint operation by the Bangladesh Coast Guard and Navy in Maheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar. On Sunday (January 18, 2026) afternoon, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq confirmed this information.

He said that based on a secret information, a joint operation was conducted at around 5 am in the hideout of terrorists in the Dhalghata North Muhuri Ghona area under Maheshkhali police station in coordination with Coast Guard Stations Maheshkhali and Teknaf and Bangladesh Navy. During the operation, the terrorists quickly left the scene after sensing the presence of the joint forces.

Later, the operation team was able to seize two local firearms and four rounds of live cartridges after searching the hideout. He said that the process of taking further legal action regarding the seized weapons and cartridges is underway.

Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq also said that Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such joint operations in the future to maintain the law and order situation in the country.
