Two drug traffickers arrested with huge quantity of Yaba in Teknaf
Two drug traffickers have been arrested with a huge quantity of yaba worth around Tk 4 crore in a special operation by the Coast Guard in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
On Wednesday (January 14, 2026) afternoon, Bangladesh Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq confirmed this information.
He said that based on a secret information, a special team of Coast Guard Station Teknaf conducted an operation in the Naf River adjacent to Nightongpara under Teknaf Police Station at around 1 pm on Tuesday (January 13, 2026).
During the operation, a suspicious wooden boat was searched in the river and 75 thousand pieces of yaba tablets worth around Tk 3 crore 75 lakh were recovered. At that time, two drug traffickers who were in the boat were arrested.
Coast Guard sources said that the seized Yaba, the boat used for smuggling and the arrested drug smugglers have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.
Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq also said that the Coast Guard’s operations to prevent drug smuggling will continue and such strict operations will continue in the future as well.
