One arrested with pistol and knife in special operation of battalion in Ukhia
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested one person with a pistol and a knife in a special operation in Jhimonkhali area of Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. During this, 1 pistol and 1 knife were recovered.
The arrested person is Mohammad Rafiq, son of deceased Sirajul Islam of Godar Bil area of Teknaf upazila.
The operation was conducted in the area under the responsibility of Jhimonkhali BOP at around 12:30 pm on Monday (January 12).
BGB sources said that the Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) under the Ramu Sector of Cox’s Bazar Region has been professionally performing its duties in maintaining security, combating smuggling, narcotics and inter-state crimes on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border for a long time.
Recently, patrolling and intelligence activities were intensified based on secret information about arms smuggling in the area under the responsibility of Ukhia Battalion.
This information was given in a press release signed by Ukhia Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Md. Zahirul Islam.
The arrested person was handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station along with the recovered weapons for legal action.
