Ramu Police rescue three abducted Rohingyas in special operation, kidnappers arrested
Ramu police have rescued three Rohingyas who were abducted in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar. A kidnapper has been arrested in the incident.
They were rescued from the Shurorer Gordana Dakshin Pahar area of Paner Chhara place in Dakshin Mithachari Union under Ramu police station on Saturday (January 10) evening.
According to police sources, a gang of 3/4 people led by Md. Babu (23) abducted three people from different Rohingya camps in Ukhia upazila and took them to the hilly area at around 6:30 pm on Saturday.
Later, the kidnappers collected ransom from them and started beating them. Hearing the screams of the victims, local people rushed to the spot and chased the kidnappers.
At that time, the kidnapper Md. Babu was caught by the mob and subjected to a mob beating. The other 3/4 kidnappers who were with him managed to escape.
On receiving the information, Ramu Police Station quickly reached the spot and rescued the three abductees and took the injured kidnapper into custody. Later, the victim and the detainee were taken to Ramu Upazila Health Complex.
Although the victims were given primary treatment, the kidnapper was referred to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital as his condition was critical. The rescued victims are Fayez Uddin (30), Jalal Uddin (40) and Rahim Ullah (34). They are all residents of different Rohingya camps in Ukhia Upazila.
Ramu Police Station said that the law and order situation in the area is currently normal. An operation is underway to identify and arrest the absconding kidnappers involved in the incident. The matter is under investigation and legal action is being taken.
