Dhaka Press Club’s newly elected committee takes oath

The oath-taking ceremony of the elected members of Dhaka Press Club for the year 2026-2027 was held at the Conference Hall of Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad on Sunday (January 11, 2026).

The oath-taking ceremony began with the recitation of the Quran by Dhaka Press Club member Hafez Maulana Md. Salahuddin.

Bangladesh Press Council Secretary, Md. Abdus Sabur, was present as the chief guest at the event. He administered the oath to the newly elected committee members.

In his speech, he said, many journalists do not know the code of conduct that journalists have as journalists. Many do not know that there are 23 codes of conduct for journalists in Bangladesh Press Council, and even if they know, they do not follow them.

There are also specific codes of conduct in government, private cadre and non-cadre services where it is said what you can and cannot do as a citizen, but many journalists do not know that. There are standard rules in 1993 and the revised Printing Press Act in 2002, which you need to know. The Journalist Protection Act that you mentioned is currently in its final stages.

Nazrul Islam, Joint Secretary Md. Nazrul Islam Khan, Office Secretary Bablur Rahman, Organizing Secretary S. M. Mahfuz, Publicity and Publication Secretary Md.
