In Rupganj, Narayanganj, local terrorists severely injured Dainik Manabkanth staff reporter Rashedul Islam and Asian Television journalist Nazmul Hasan with iron pipes and country-made weapons after publishing news.

The incident took place around 11:30 am on Sunday (January 11) in the Dakshinbagh Hindupara area of ​​Rupganj Union of the upazila. The injured journalist Rashedul Islam said that he works as a staff reporter for the Daily Manabkanth newspaper.

They were enraged after the news of land grabbing and terrorist activities against local Awami League leaders Afzal Hossain, Zakir Hossain, Joynal, Sukhena and others was published. After the police arrested Afzal Hossain after August 5, the news continued to be published.

On Sunday morning, Rashedul Islam went to inspect land in the Dakshinbagh area with his colleague Nazmul Hasan when 4-5 unidentified men armed with country-made weapons ambushed him.

They beat him indiscriminately with an iron pipe, injuring two of them. When people from the area came forward, the attackers fled after threatening him. Later, locals rescued the injured and admitted them to the Rupganj Upazila Health Complex.

Rashedul Islam filed a case with the Rupganj Police Station as the complainant in this incident. The police have arrested the accused Afzal Hossain (son of the deceased Shamsuddin of Dakshinbagh area).

Rupganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sabzel Hossain said that a case has been registered in the incident and one person has been arrested. The operation to arrest the remaining accused is ongoing.
