A businessman named Narayan Chandra Das (54) committed suicide after suffering from a long-term illness in Begumganj, Noakhali. The incident took place on Saturday (January 10) morning at the house of Rakhal Das of Krishnarampur village in Ward No. 3 of Rajganj Union of the upazila. The deceased Narayan Chandra Das is the son of the deceased Gopal Chandra Das of the same village. He was a fish trader by profession.

The deceased’s son Nimai Chandra Das said that his father had been suffering from tumors, ulcers and piles for a long time. Despite receiving treatment several times, his condition did not improve. He broke down mentally as he did not recover despite treatment. He left his house in unbearable pain early on Saturday.

Later, without the knowledge of his family members, he committed suicide by hanging himself from a mango tree on the bank of a pond next to his house. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Begumganj Police Station Md. Shamsuzzaman said the body has been recovered and sent to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy. A case of unnatural death has been registered in the incident.
