The largest of the three parliamentary constituencies in Gopalganj district is Gopalganj-1 (partially comprising 7 unions of Muksudpur-Kashiani upazila). The number of voters in this constituency is about four lakh.

A total of four independent candidates had submitted their nomination papers for this important constituency in the 13th National Parliament election to be held on February 12. The scrutiny of the nomination papers for that constituency was completed on Saturday (January 3). District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Md. Arif-uz-Zaman declared the nomination papers of three candidates as invalid.

The independent candidate whose nomination papers have been declared valid is M. Anisul Islam.
He is a son of Jhutigram of Banshbaria union in Muksudpur upazila.

After the nomination papers were declared valid, he answered various questions from the media personnel present at the office of the Returning Officer and the District Commissioner.

He said, I have become a candidate in the elections with the aim of serving the common people.
My goal is to develop the overall infrastructure of the Gopalganj-1 parliamentary constituency.

My goal is to develop roads in the area, activate rivers and canals, build bridges and culverts, install street lights, take appropriate initiatives for women’s development, ensure the provision of various allowances including old-age, widow and maternity allowances, and work for the betterment of farmers, workers and fishermen.  One of my desires is to spread education and play a role in the field of sports.
I want to work to the best of my ability for people from all walks of life.

My goal is to build a totally balanced social system by moving the backward and marginalized communities forward, reducing inequality. In this modern era, I want to stand by the plight of people.

I want to be given a chance to protect the rights of any person. I seek the votes, prayers and blessings of the voters of Gopalganj-1 constituency to succeed in these tasks.
