The 13th National Assembly election and referendum are being held on February 12.

On the last day of submission of nomination forms for this election, seven candidates from different parties submitted their nomination papers to the office of the Assistant Returning Officer and one candidate to the office of the Returning Officer in Gazipur-5 (Kaliganj-Pubail-Baria).

A total of 9 candidates from different parties had collected their nomination papers in this constituency.
According to sources from the office of the Assistant Returning Officer, on Monday (December 29) afternoon, the nominated candidate of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP, AKM Fazlul Haque Milon, submitted his nomination papers to the Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Nirbahi Karmata ATM Kamrul Islam.

At this time, Upazila BNP convener Humayun Kabir Master and member secretary Khalequzzaman Bablu, former Upazila BNP general secretary Solaiman Alam, Ashrafi Habibullah, Md. Khairul Ahsan Mintu and former mayor of Kaliganj Municipality Lutfar Rahman were present.

Later, Islamic Front Bangladesh nominated candidate Md. Al Amin Dewan submitted his nomination paper to Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Nirbahi Karmata ATM Kamrul Islam.

At this time, Islamic Front Bangladesh central member Md. Ali Hossain Bhuiyan, Upazila general secretary Md. Mejbah Uddin, Alhaj Dewan Shafiuddin Ahmed were present.

Later, Gono Forum nominated candidate Md. Kajal Bhuiyan, Janata Dal nominated candidate Azam Khan, Islami Andolan Bangladesh nominated candidate Gazi Ataur Rahman, Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis nominated candidate Ruhul Amin (and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami nominated candidate Md. Khairul Hasan submitted their nomination papers to the Returning Officer along with their respective party leaders and activists.

In the afternoon, Jatiya Party nominated candidate Dr. Shafiuddin Sarkar submitted his nomination papers to the Gazipur Returning Officer.
