The triennial election of the Nahata Bazar Merchants’ Association in Mohammadpur upazila of Magura was completed on Sunday.

Md. Monir Hossain was elected president and Mustafizur Rahman was elected general secretary in the election. The voting was held in a day-long festive atmosphere at Nahata Rani Patit Pabni Secondary School. Mohammadpur Upazila Social Service Officer Md. Abdur Rob was the presiding officer.

Also present were Mohammadpur Press Club President Md. Azizur Rahman Rahman Tutul, journalist Bishwajit Singh Roy, journalist Russell Mia, journalist Abul Khair Roni, journalist Haqqani, Magura Press Club member Pankaj Roy, Magura Journalists Union President Faruk Ahmed, member Subir Kumar Ghosh, Bangladesh Journalist Torture Prevention Forum Magura District Branch General Secretary Nawab Ali, Vice President GRM Tarek, etc. Also present were police and village police members of the law enforcement agencies.

Monir Hossain Doat was elected as the president with 283 votes on the pen symbol. His closest rival was Md. Zakir Hossain with 250 votes on the horse symbol.
Md. Mostafizur Rahman (Mohebbullah) was elected as the general secretary with 319 votes on the wall clock symbol. His closest rival was Md. Alamgir Hossain with 155 votes on the umbrella symbol.

Moslem Uddin Khan was elected as Senior Vice President with 261 votes on the telephone symbol. His nearest rival was Md. Zahidul Islam with 185 votes on the glasses symbol. Maruf Hussain was elected unopposed as Vice President.

Aminur Rahman was elected as Joint General Secretary with 413 votes on the kite symbol. His nearest rival was Md. Jahangir Alam with 256 votes on the candle symbol.

Rezwan was elected as Finance Secretary with 308 votes on the sewing machine symbol. His nearest rival was Jamal Uddin with 256 votes on the electric fan symbol.

Rifat Ullah was elected as Organizing Secretary with 361 votes on the eagle symbol. His nearest rival was Shahabuddin Islam with 302 votes on the mango symbol.

Md. Mahtab Uddin Rubel was elected as the Department Publicity and Publication Secretary with 423 votes under the rooster symbol, His nearest rival Md. Alamgir Molya received 237 votes under the cow cart symbol.

Social Welfare and Religious Affairs Secretary Md. Nur Islam was elected as the Bicycle symbol with 446 votes under the lock symbol. His nearest rival Md. Riazul Islam received 226 votes under the lock symbol.

Palash Biswas was elected as the Sports and Cultural Secretary with 268 votes under the pitcher symbol, His nearest rival Al-Mamun received 252 votes under the ladder symbol.

Tamjid Hossain, Md. Nahid Parvez, Biplob, Mujahidul Islam and Md. Monirul Islam were elected unopposed as executive members.
